Title: Illegal bookmaker advertising on website
Post by: Labionda on Sep 12, 2022, 11:04 AM
Has anyone experienced the blocking of a website that promotes an illegal bookmaker without a license due to advertising? If yes, what are the chances of unblocking the site?

As far as dealing with such situations is concerned, website blocks due to illegal activities such as online gambling are not uncommon. However, the legal procedures for unblocking a website vary depending on the specific jurisdiction.

I would strongly advise against it as website blocks happen quickly and can last for a long time, based on my personal experience.

Although it's possible to get the block lifted, it's important to note that regulatory bodies often wait until the site loses its relevance, i.e. falling out of search engine positions and losing traffic entirely.

In one instance, I was able to lift the block within 4 months despite having only 500 daily visitors, but the site lost all its traffic in the process. On another occasion, a site that was initially receiving 20,000 daily visits was blocked for advertising for an unlicensed brokerage firm and it has remained blocked for half a year with no success in getting it removed despite reaching out to the regulator.

If you value your site, it's best to avoid promoting banned brokerage firms as it can be detrimental to the traffic and success of your website.

All gambling is blocked except licensed bookmakers. By the way, they also have affiliate links. They don't pay much and it is difficult to win an affiliate, but still... It is often impossible to unblock a site.

Something just like a miracle you tell :) Maybe your site was not on the theme bookmakers, you have removed the violations and unblocked after 4 months, if so, it is still possible, but in general, sites are not unblocked, especially now, now regulators stupidly ignore all the messages, what you have already seen.

The site in question mainly discusses brokers, including articles about betting strategies and the functionality of brokerage companies (even those that are banned). Additionally, the site offers programs for betting and forecasts.

It's important to note that articles about workarounds for blocking mirrors are essential to the site, but any further discussion about this site may lead to it being blocked yet again (it's already been blocked once before).

While I'm not entirely sure if the regulator is ignoring the site or not, there have been instances of successful unblocking in the past.

And what can you say about the adalt theme? Well, just for general information.  :)  Hosting the U.S. or the Netherlands, - there is.

Question: should I respect the anonymity and what can be the result of bad? And what do I need to know?
Searching for it, but could not find a similar theme.

If you don't work in 3 forbidden niches (raps, zoo, si-pi), nothing bad will happen... Everything else is legal...
if i'm not mistaken, even zoo content is legal in holland...

If you have seriously worked on your site and appreciate it, then it is better not to place such ads. It's easy to get blocked. It's only worth running this ad if this bookmaker is paying you a lot of money for ads, which I doubt

I would not risk my good, so to speak) For the sake of one-time earnings, to lose forever the site in which I invested so much money, labor, strength and emotions. I don't think it's worth it.

In some cases, getting a website unblocked may require legal action, such as appealing to the appropriate authorities or challenging the block in court. However, it is important to note that promoting illegal activities, such as an unlicensed bookmaker, can have serious consequences and may not be a straightforward process to resolve. It is always recommended to consult with a legal professional familiar with the jurisdiction's laws to understand the options available.

In addition to legal action, there are a few other possible approaches to consider when attempting to unblock a website promoting illegal activities:

1. Compliance: If the website was blocked due to specific violations, such as advertising without a license, one potential way to regain access is to address and rectify those violations. This might involve obtaining the necessary licenses and permissions.

2. Negotiation: In some cases, it may be possible to negotiate with the relevant authorities or internet service providers (ISPs) to have the block lifted. This could involve demonstrating that the website has been brought into compliance with regulations or presenting arguments for why the block should be reconsidered.

3. Changing Hosts or Domains: If the block is specific to a particular hosting provider or domain, migrating the website to a different host or using a different domain might help to bypass the block. However, if the block is based on the content of the website rather than just its location, this approach may not be effective.

4. Circumvention Techniques: There are various techniques, such as using virtual private networks (VPNs) or proxy servers, that can potentially help bypass website blocks. However, the legality of using such methods depends on the jurisdiction and the specific circumstances.

5. Public Pressure: Raising public awareness about the website block and generating support for its unblocking can sometimes influence authorities or ISPs to reconsider their decision. This could involve reaching out to media outlets, engaging with advocacy groups, or starting an online petition to gather support.

6. Analytics and Monitoring: Regularly monitoring the website's traffic and analyzing the source of the block can provide insights into which entity is responsible for the block. This information can then be used to determine the appropriate channels to address the issue, such as filing a complaint with the relevant regulatory bodies or ISPs.

7. Technical Solutions: Exploring technical solutions, such as implementing encryption protocols (e.g., HTTPS) or using content delivery networks (CDNs), might help bypass certain types of blocks or improve the website's accessibility.

8. International Cooperation: If the website block is due to cross-border issues, involving international organizations or seeking assistance from foreign governments might offer additional avenues for resolving the situation.

9. Compliance with Regulations: Adhering to local regulations, obtaining required licenses and permits, and ensuring the website complies with the legal framework of the jurisdiction can increase the chances of having the block lifted.

10. Seeking Legal Representation: Engaging the services of a lawyer or legal firm that specializes in internet law can provide valuable guidance and representation throughout the process of unblocking the website. They can help navigate the legal complexities, draft appeals or petitions, and advocate for your case.

11. Reporting to Relevant Authorities: If you believe the website promoting illegal activities is in violation of specific laws or regulations, reporting it to the appropriate authorities might initiate an investigation. This could potentially result in the removal of the website block as part of law enforcement actions.

12. Engaging with User Communities: Reaching out to user communities or forums that have faced similar blocks may provide insights and advice on potential strategies for unblocking the website. They might have firsthand experience in dealing with similar situations and can offer valuable guidance.

13. Transparency and Cooperation: Demonstrating a willingness to cooperate with authorities and addressing any concerns they may have can improve the chances of unblocking the website. Providing transparency regarding licensing, compliance, and responsible gambling measures can help build a case for reconsideration.

14. Public Advocacy and Awareness Campaigns: Launching a public advocacy or awareness campaign to shed light on the issue can help raise awareness among the general public, media outlets, and relevant authorities. This can put pressure on those responsible for the block and potentially lead to a reconsideration of the decision.

15. Collaboration and Partnerships: Collaborating with other organizations, advocacy groups, or industry associations that are focused on responsible gambling or legality in online operations can provide additional support and resources. They might have experience in navigating similar challenges and can provide guidance or even join efforts to lobby for the unblocking of the website.

16. Adhering to Advertising Guidelines: Reviewing and ensuring compliance with advertising guidelines and regulations specific to online gambling or bookmaking can demonstrate a commitment to responsible advertising practices. This can strengthen your case for the unblocking of the website.

17. Alternative Platforms and Strategies: Exploring alternative platforms or channels to promote your offerings in a compliant manner can be considered. This might involve utilizing social media, email marketing, or other forms of digital advertising that align with the legal framework in your jurisdiction.

18. Legislative and Policy Advocacy: Engaging with policymakers, legislators, or industry regulators to advocate for changes in policies or regulations related to online gambling or bookmaking can address the root cause of the block. Participating in public consultations or providing input on legislative initiatives can contribute to shaping a more favorable regulatory landscape.
