Can you suggest a hosting service where I can obtain an SSL certificate for a technical domain (one that is not in use) to enable https configuration?

I'm currently studying web development and I am interested in learning how to convert a website from http to https. However, the issue is that my Beget web hosting only provides SSL certificates for real domains and not technical ones. I would like to know if anyone has had experience with a hosting service that provides SSL certificates for technical domains?

The concept of a "technical domain" does not exist. A domain does not exist before it is created and after creation, it is simply a string of characters. The fee you pay is not for the domain itself, but for the record in the DNS database that specifies the IP address associated with the domain.

If you are learning web development, you can issue your own SSL certificate or use Let's Encrypt to practice securing your website. Despite personal dislike for Let's Encrypt, it is a viable option. Additionally, using a self-issued certificate will allow you to test your website's security from an external perspective without needing to explain how to install the certificate in the root.

It is crucial that website owners understand the importance of securing their websites against hacking attempts. A breach of personal information can have serious consequences for both the user and the website owner.

When it comes to training, generating your own SSL certificate and using it will be much more beneficial. It's important to note that the concept of technical domains doesn't exist.

There are free options available for experimenting with SSL certificates such as www.freenom.com/en/freeandpaiddomains.html. As for hosting, any VPS option will suffice.

It is important to take advantage of opportunities to practice securing your websites. With data breaches becoming increasingly common, website owners need to stay informed about the importance of maintaining secure websites.

SiteGround is a highly recommended web hosting service by the online community. It's trusted by professional bloggers who receive high traffic numbers. Whether you're a beginner blogger or an entrepreneur, SiteGround provides tailored solutions for your hosting needs.

With over a million domains under their belt, SiteGround offers customized hosting for WordPress and WooCommerce. They offer affordable pricing and a simple pricing structure. All plans come with a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate which can be installed effortlessly, as well as a free Cloudflare CDN to keep your website secure and fast.

SiteGround's GrowBig and GoGeek plans come with free site migration, making it easy to switch from another host without downtime. Their support team is reliable and responsive, providing assistance within 10 minutes on average.

Hosting with SiteGround comes with daily website backups and a cPanel control panel for convenient management. Prices start at just $3.95/month, making it accessible for bloggers across all stages of their journey.

While there are some downsides to note such as fees for restoring daily backups and slightly higher renewal prices, the benefits far outweigh these minor drawbacks.

It is important for website owners to prioritize the reliability and safety of their hosting provider. With options like SiteGround available, securing your website and ensuring its smooth operation has never been easier.

One option I would recommend is DigitalOcean. They provide a easy process to enable SSL certificates through Let's Encrypt for any domain you might register, even if it's a technical domain. They offer a cloud infrastructure which means you can easily spin up a server and install your website. Once you have that, you can use Certbot to obtain and install a SSL certificate for free, regardless if your domain is new or old.

Another service you might want to consider is Vercel or Netlify. Both are fantastic for hosting static sites, and they provide built-in SSL certificates for any new domain you add. It's a more simplified approach, and they automatically manage SSL for you, which means you can focus more on developing rather than setting everything up.

If you want something super simple and are not requiring extensive server management, you could check out GitHub Pages. They allow you to host static websites from a GitHub repository, and you can use a custom domain with HTTPS. It requires a bit of configuration but GitHub provides great documentation on how to set it up.

Also, Hostinger is another good option. They offer free SSL certificates on all their hosting plans, and you can register any domain including technical ones. Their interface is user-friendly, which is nice for someone who is still learning.

Just keep in mind to always check the terms of service and ensure that the provider allows the type of domain you're planning to use. It might be a good idea to experiment with a few different services to see which one you feel most comfortable with.
