Do your hosting secretly adds upgrades to your account to increase your bill?

I have subscribed to an email plan with a custom .com domain that includes 10 mailboxes and costs between $3 and $4 per month. I have had this plan for over 10 years.
However, my web host recently increased my rate or upgraded me to a higher plan without my consent, and I had to call them to downgrade back to my original plan. Recently, I discovered that I could switch to a cheaper plan by reducing the number of mailboxes but was surprised to find that my monthly fee increased.

The web host added a website builder option to my plan without my consent and charged me an additional $4 per month. I decided to cancel the website builder option online, even though the cancel screen warned that it might increase the rest of my plan's price.
The web host's billing system seems confusing, which makes people reluctant to cancel unnecessary services. I wonder if this is common among inexpensive hosting sites and if I should switch to a more ethical web host.

Plan

Yes, this practice is quite common in the web hosting industry where other services are bundled at discounted rates. It is essential to carefully read the Terms of Service and understand the details of what you are signing up for.
Cheaper hosting providers often offer discounted services for a limited period of time, after which they raise the prices without proper reminders.

In my opinion, that is an uncommon occurrence, and I would suggest looking for a new web hosting provider.

In my opinion, such hosting should not be trusted at all. If they claim to provide cheap services, but instead constantly connect additional services that the client did not even order, then this is already an obvious scam or a way to confuse customers so that they pay twice as much. I would advise looking for a more reliable hosting provider that values its reputation and provides quality services.

I think this is one of the reasons why you need to change your hosting provider. Errors with payments do not happen often, this is not considered a normal phenomenon. Good hosting providers fix everything immediately. Bad companies spend a lot of time fixing problems by substituting their customers.

Slip

Some web hosting providers prefer to distribute the load between websites on the same server.
However, this can cause issues when one website starts using an excessive amount of resources, resulting in a slowdown for other websites on the same server, including mine.
At first, my hosting provider insisted that the issue was due to the numerous plugins on my site, even though I had not made any changes in the past four months. Eventually, they admitted the problem and resolved it, but I pay $10 per month for their service.
Since I have set up everything perfectly, I plan to switch to a premium web hosting provider that does not experience these types of issues.

While I can't speak for all inexpensive hosting sites, it is not uncommon for companies to add features or upgrade plans without explicitly obtaining consent from their customers. This tactic can sometimes lead to unwanted charges and confusion regarding billing.

If you feel that the web host's billing system is confusing and it's difficult to cancel unnecessary services, it may be worth considering switching to a more ethical web host. There are many reputable hosting providers that prioritize transparency and customer satisfaction. You can research and compare different hosting options to find one that aligns with your needs and budget. Additionally, reading reviews and seeking recommendations from other users can help inform your decision.
