Whats the deal with those inexpensiv .com domains at 1and1? I visited there site and tried to see the costs. It shows me a price of a dollar and some cents, saying - you save 14 dollars. That cant be so low. Check the site if you able. Maybe I'm missing something.

When you see those super cheap .com domains at places like 1&1 IONOS, it's usually a promotional offer. Here's what you need to know:

Introductory Pricing: The low price you see—like a dollar and some cents—is often just for the first year. It's a way to attract new customers. After the initial period, the renewal cost typically jumps back up to the regular price, which can be around $15 or more per year.

Terms and Conditions: Always check the fine print. They might have specific terms, such as requiring a multi-year commitment or bundling with other services like hosting or email.

Add-Ons and Upsells: Be wary of additional costs. They might offer upsells like privacy protection, email services, or SSL certificates, which can add to your total cost.

Renewal Rates: Make sure you know what the renewal rate is before you commit. This is where many people get caught off guard.

Transfer Fees: If you decide to move your domain to another registrar later, check if there are any transfer fees involved.

User Reviews: It might be helpful to look at user reviews to see if there are any hidden catches or common issues with their service.

So, while the initial price seems too good to be true, it's a standard marketing tactic. Just keep an eye on the long-term costs!

Domain registrars, they snatch cash from buyin' + renewin' or transferrin'. Hook the client, then find ways to squeeze more dough..

In the first year, registering a domain costs $0.99 plus $0.18 for ICANN fees. New customers can snag just one .com domain at this price. Additional .com domains are priced at $8.99.

Renewals for all domains run at $14.99. Also, remember that there's a fee for pushing a domain to someone else when you transfer it!
When managing your domain portfolio, always keep an eye on renewal costs and any extra fees that might pop up.
