Title: Hosting for several websites
Post by: Mritunjay on Oct 12, 2022, 12:02 AM
Greetings to all!
I'm in need of advice regarding shared hosting or VPS. My goal is to host 27 websites and I require a minimum of 100 gigabytes of disk space.
Regular backups are a must, and I'm looking for a plan that costs no more than $10 per month. If possible, I would prefer a data center located in Belgium. However, the most important aspect for me is to find a reliable web hosting service that won't experience constant downtime and will operate smoothly.

OVH (Europe) offers a similar service to what I am suggesting - VPS Cloud 1 with auto backup service available as an additional feature.

In my opinion, Bluehost is a great option despite not knowing the exact cost. I have special privileges as a longtime user since 2002.

VPS pricing starts at around $150 per year, and comes with 850 GB storage. The speed has not been measured but it has been sufficient for PageSpeed Insights on all projects, including heavy Joomla templates. However, without Cloudflare, the speed drops to around 70.

In terms of backup, they offer an hourly backup service that is hard to beat - even when compared to other hosting services.

The server that I am currently using hosts around a hundred different websites, and has at least 850 GB of open video hosting space. It will definitely be enough for the rest of my life.

The hosting provider is located in England, while the "cloud" is located within their infrastructure.

When it comes to hosting your website or application, it is important to consider that it generates a large amount of data on its own, including background processes. Therefore, it is essential to choose a hosting provider thoughtfully.

To make an informed choice, there are certain parameters that you must take into account. Firstly, determine your needs regarding memory, expected daily traffic, the amount and weight of the data that will be stored.

Secondly, decide on the type of hosting that suits your requirements. The cost and potential for scaling depend on the hosting option you select.

Thirdly, you need to take into consideration the administration aspect of hosting such as who will set it up and maintain it. This may involve hiring an employee or utilizing a specialist from the hosting provider.

Lastly, additional features like SSL certificates, protection against cyber attacks, and an easy-to-use management platform are important considerations when choosing a hosting provider.

When looking at shared hosting versus VPS, there are several factors to consider.
Shared Hosting: This option is more cost-effective and easier to manage as the server resources are shared among multiple users. However, since you have 27 websites, shared hosting might not provide enough resources and performance for all your sites, especially if they experience high traffic or require more processing power.

VPS (Virtual Private Server): With VPS hosting, you have dedicated resources and greater control over the server. This would be a suitable option for hosting 27 websites, as it can accommodate the higher resource demands and provide better performance.

Considering your requirement of a minimum of 100 gigabytes of disk space, regular backups, and a budget of $10 per month, finding a suitable hosting plan in Belgium may be challenging. Data center location can impact website loading times, so it's great that you prefer a data center in Belgium.

In terms of reliability and uptime, it's crucial to research and compare hosting providers. Look for reviews, uptime guarantees, and customer support quality. Some providers offer automated backups as part of their service, which could be beneficial for your needs.

Given your budget, it might be challenging to find a VPS plan with 100GB disk space for $10 per month, especially in Belgium. You may need to consider increasing your budget to ensure you get a reliable and suitable hosting solution for all your websites.

Additionally, it's important to consider scalability. As your websites grow, you may need more resources, so choosing a host that allows for easy upgrades is essential.
While it may be difficult to find all your requirements within a $10 budget, prioritizing reliable uptime and performance for your 27 websites is crucial. A VPS hosting solution, although potentially higher in cost, may provide the necessary resources and reliability you need. It's important to carefully weigh the trade-offs between cost, performance, and features when selecting a hosting plan.

Limited resources: Resources like CPU, RAM, and disk space are shared among multiple websites, impacting performance if one site sees a surge in traffic.

Belgium datacenters? At this price, dream on. You're stuck with generic EU or US hubs from bottom-tier hosts like Hostinger.

Backups might be promised, but good luck restoring without paying extra for "premium" support. Shared hosting is a cesspool of oversold servers; you'll get no juice when traffic spikes. VPS is the only sane option for that many sites, but not at your budget - fork out more or brace for pain.

To host several websites, choose a hosting plan that supports multiple domains, such as shared, VPS, or cloud hosting, offering scalability, sufficient storage, bandwidth, and individual control for each site.
