As a layout designer, I am proficient in CSS and HTML, however, I lack knowledge in JS and PHP. Despite this, I believe that my layouts are of high quality with valid and cross-browser implementation. I continuously keep up with the latest news and trends in the field of web design.

Unfortunately, I struggle with finding ways to monetize my skills. It is frustrating to see unskilled designers who earn a good income.
I am looking for guidance on how and where to make money, even if it's a small amount like $200 per month.

Here are some suggestions that have been previously given:

- Learn javascript
- Build a portfolio
- Create your own website with a perfect layout
- Include your portfolio and contact info on your website, and add copyright information to the created sites along with a link to your portfolio
- Use your free time to learn back-end programming (RoR or Django)

Additionally, it is recommended to stop using PHP and never look back due to its negative past. Once you receive positive reviews, consider joining freelance platforms such as odesk where you can earn up to $100 per hour.

Also, it is important to learn how to copy and paste quickly and use plugins to improve efficiency. Avoid reinventing the wheel and rely on pre-existing templates and libraries to speed up the process. Although issues may arise, the feeling of euphoria after completing a full website in a short amount of time is priceless.

Suppose a trendy production office is interested in hiring you to create their website. What are their requirements? Firstly, they need unique functionality which could be developed in PHP or JavaScript, such as a calculator. Secondly, they require a visually appealing and stable version for browsers.

The reason for this is that production offices sell to larger suppliers and corporations who have regular office workers, not just managers of their own. Therefore, it's unlikely that these workers will access the website outside of their workplace on mobile devices.

Without the use of JS and PHP, there is no room for further development. Hence, it's recommended that developers accept projects involving Javascript and PHP, and using jQuery can significantly simplify the coding process.

If you have good designing skills, you can make a significant income each month without knowing javascript by receiving orders as a freelancer. All you need is a portfolio to showcase your work.

You can take previously completed designs and host them on a server to provide a link. If you don't have any work to display, you can use complex free templates and modify them to make them of high quality. For those who can communicate in English, odesk.com is a great platform.
You can browse through them to find the one that suits your preferences.

It's great to hear that you have the skills and passion for layout design! While it can be frustrating to see unskilled designers earning more, there are still opportunities for you to monetize your skills. Here are a few suggestions:

1. Freelancing Platforms: Websites like Upwork, Freelancer, and Fiverr offer opportunities to showcase your skills and find clients who are willing to pay for your services. Create a profile highlighting your expertise in CSS and HTML, and start bidding on relevant projects.

2. Local Businesses: Approach local businesses in your area and offer your design services. Many small businesses are in need of websites, and they might not have access to skilled designers. You can either charge a one-time fee for designing their website or offer ongoing maintenance services.

3. Design Contests: Participate in online design contests on platforms like 99designs or DesignCrowd. Winning a contest can not only earn you money but also help establish your reputation in the field.

4. Personal Projects: Build a portfolio of your own website designs and promote them through social media platforms or your personal website. This can attract potential clients and demonstrate your abilities.

5. Online Courses or Tutorials: Share your knowledge and expertise by creating online courses or tutorials on platforms like Udemy, Skillshare, or YouTube. You can monetize these courses through enrollment fees or advertising revenue.

suggestions to help you monetize your skills as a layout designer:

1. Theme Marketplaces: Consider creating and selling website themes or templates on popular marketplaces like ThemeForest, Creative Market, or TemplateMonster. This allows you to earn passive income by licensing your designs to multiple users.

2. Customization Services: Offer customization services for existing website templates or themes. Many people purchase pre-designed templates but may require assistance in customizing them to meet their specific needs. You can charge a fee for this service.

3. Collaboration with Developers: Partner with web developers who lack design skills but have clients in need of professional layouts. You can work together to provide complete website design and development packages, splitting the revenue accordingly.

4. Referral Programs: Explore referral programs run by web hosting companies, domain providers, or other relevant services. By referring clients to these services, you can earn a commission or percentage of the sale.

5. Design Consultancy: Consider offering design consultation services to individuals or businesses seeking expert advice on their websites. This could include optimizing layouts, improving user experience, or suggesting design enhancements.

6. Join Design Communities: Engage with design communities and forums where you can network with potential clients or find freelance opportunities. These platforms include Behance, Dribbble, or design-related subreddits on Reddit.
