Domain name returning

Hello! A while ago, I purchased an idn domain name from an Indian reseller registrar at a very reasonable price for its first year, and paid for it. However, when I tried to change the NS servers to my own, it didn't work despite my efforts. I contacted the support team but was told that they needed my photo or passport to confirm the domain. I reluctantly sent them a photo, but didn't receive any response. I tried to contact them again about the panel, but still no response after a few months have passed.

Upon checking the domain Whois, I found out that my personal data and email address are listed as the contact address. Although my domain is registered with GoDaddy, the NS servers of my reseller lead to GoDaddy as well. Now, I'm wondering how I can transfer the domain to my GoDaddy dashboard where my other domains are hosted.

To transfer your domain from the reseller to GoDaddy, you may need to send them a screenshot of your passport details. This is how it works with namecheap at least.

It sounds quite frustrating, especialy with the lack of communication from the reseller registrar. Here are the steps you might take to transfer your domain to your GoDaddy dashboard:

First, you'll want to make sure the domain is eligible for transfer. Usually, domains need to be registered for at least 60 days before they can be transferred. If your domain meets this requirement, the next step is to contact your current registrar again. Even though you've already tried multiple times, it's essential to keep a record of these attempts.

Make sure you have access to your original email used during the registration process, as they may still rely on that for communications. If you've paid for the domain and it's been a few months without any reply, you could try sending a formal complaint through their support channels or even social media if they're active there. Sometimes, public requests receive quicker responses.

If you get no response at all, consider checking their official support documentation for a possible alternative contact method. A phone call might give you quicker results, if they offer customer service over the phone.

Once you manage to get a response or access to your domain management panel, you will need to unlock the domain for transfer and obtain an authorization code (EPP code). This code is crucial as it allows GoDaddy to initiate the transfer. Following this, go to your GoDaddy domain manager, and select the option to transfer a domain. You will be prompted to enter the domain name and the authorization code you've received.

In case the reseller is non-responsive and you feel that your personal information is at risk due to the Whois listing, you may also want to consider involving a legal service or a cybersecurity professional. They can provide assistance, especially regarding your privacy concerns.
Remember to keep your records organized and document every communication you have, including screenshots of your transfers, emails sent, and responses (or lack of). This could be useful in case you need to escalate the situation further.
