As an investor, I have always strived to acquire names at a low price. To the best of my recollection, the highest amount I have ever paid for a single name acquisition was less than $100 (I think approximately $90).
Unfortunately, it didn't sell for a profit. What is the maximum amount you're willing to spend on acquiring a single name and have you ever sold it for a profit?

At one point, I paid $700 (for concierge.ws) for a project, but ultimately decided to drop it. I was swept up in the excitement of the auction. Typically, my average cost of acquisition is under $25;
however, if I am particularly fond of a name, I am willing to spend up to $150 on it. Last year, I sold a .org domain that I had purchased on a forum a few years prior for $150 for $5,000.

Typically, I don't spend more than $100 on a name, but in this particular case, I spent around $1200. Despite spending more than usual, I'm still in possession of the name and I know that I could sell it back to the trade at any point and recoup my investment. The knowledge that I could resell it for the same amount is the only reason I felt comfortable spending that much on a name.

In 2014, a domain was needed for the project.
I was looking at the GoDaddy auction. And I bought the sbup_com for fifteen hundred dollars.
And I sold the old domain (on which the project was) for a thousand bucks.
