Many various projects use a large number of .com domain names. Which registrar offers the most competitive prices?

As of now, the cheapest price I could find for a single domain falls just below $11. Are there any superior alternatives that offer even better rates?

Verisign, the administrator of the .com zone, charges a base price of $10.85 per year for a domain. Any price below this can be seen as subsidized by the registrar.

Registrars may reduce their prices in order to attract new customers, although it's important to consider the renewal fees as well. Alternatively, they may offer lower prices at the expense of related services, but it's difficult to recommend without understanding the full extent of what you're willing to purchase.

It's important to look beyond just the initial cost of registering a domain and consider factors such as reputation of the registrar, quality of service, and potential hidden costs. While a low price may seem attractive at first glance, it may not necessarily be the best option in the long run.

It's unlikely to find a registration and renewal price of $10 or less, as it is typically less than what the registrar pays to the registry.
It's also important to consider if there are any additional fees, such as for Private Whois/Whois Privacy.

For reputable registrars with fair prices, Porkbun and NameSilo are recommended. However, if you do come across a significantly cheaper option, be sure to research the company and read reviews before proceeding.

Another strategy is to wait for Black Friday promotions, which can offer discounted prices on domain registrations for the first year. This can potentially lead to significant savings compared to the average market price.

When shopping for a registrar, it's crucial to balance cost with quality and reliability. A cheap price may seem attractive, but it's important to ensure that the registrar offers sufficient support, security, and privacy protections for your domain. It's also worth considering any potential renewal fees or hidden costs before making a decision.
