One interesting finding was that country code registries had an average score of only 2.2 out of 5 in terms of their perception of end-user awareness of IDNs.
In recent years, there has been less discussion about IDNs. Other key highlights include the fact that 79% of ccTLDs support IDN registration and that there are roughly 2.2 million IDN registrations in total.
The median growth rate for IDNs under national ccTLDs was 2.5%, slightly lower than the previous year. Latin is the most commonly offered script by ccTLDs, and 18 registries offer both IDN and xn-- form in Port 43 WHOIS. Registries rated registrar support at 3.1 out of 5, down from the previous year's score of 3.5.
Additionally, the end-user awareness of IDNs was rated at 2.3 out of 5, which is a decrease from the previous year's score of 2.6.
