Recent updates on Dan.com have caused frustration among domain investors, who had to quickly adjust their account settings once again.

What happened:

Portfolio holders on Dan, which is owned by GoDaddy, received a system update. Although everything seemed normal, there was a "devilish" occurrence where the Afternic Integration switch was unexpectedly turned on for those who had disabled it.

As a result, domains with a Buy It Now (BIN) price or both a BIN and Make Offer setup were immediately redirected to Afternic without any prior warning. Not everyone wants to use Afternic, and we won't go into detail about the reasons why, but the main one is the right to choose.

Disgruntled users had to manually turn off the integration switch. Several days later, Dan.com stated that the issue was a "glitch" that affected "some" accounts and attributed it to a "synchronization issue."

Are Dan and Afternic not in sync!?

However, these statements should be taken with a grain of salt. Many domain investors received the latest system upgrade without the switch being flipped, but then, overnight, it became activated on its own. This suggests a deliberate cross-account switching that occurred after the initial rollout of the system updates on Dan.com.

Unfortunately, there is now a lack of trust among many domain investors that this won't happen again.
