GoDaddy appears to have made changes to its domain name appraisal tool, as noticed by domain investor Bob Hawkes when expiry auctions in GoDaddy Auctions were missing their estimated values. Hawkes observed that the tool's algorithm had been altered, with some domain extensions experiencing an increase in value and unregistered non-words generally seeing a decrease in value to low amounts.



However, GoDaddy's Paul Nicks clarified that an algorithm change had not occurred; instead, they had added more data to improve the accuracy of the appraisals. One noteworthy change in the tool is that high-value domain names are now listed as "too high to estimate," rather than displaying a value of over $25,000.

This alteration has been praised as beneficial by some, as it emphasizes the domain's high value without confusing potential buyers. While automated tools like GoDaddy's appraisal can be unreliable, this new language provides helpful information for those considering purchasing a valuable domain name.
