TikTok has become more vigilant in safeguarding its brand, having filed six domain name disputes via WIPO cases this year under the TikTok Limited entity.

Previously, such disputes were raised under the parent company ByteDance Limited, which had over 59 domain name disputes for 109 domain names and won almost 90% of these cases over the past three years. There are speculations on why TikTok switched the legal entity for these domain names, but nothing concrete has been confirmed.

TikTok is a popular Chinese-owned short-form video-sharing social networking service that allows users to create short music, lip-sync, comedy, and talent videos of 3 to 15 seconds, and short looping videos of 3 to 60 seconds. It was launched in most markets outside of mainland China in September 2016 but became available worldwide only after merging with Musical.ly in August 2018. With over a billion active users as of December 2020, TikTok has become one of the most popular social media platforms globally, particularly among individuals under 30 years old.

One of the reasons for TikTok's popularity is its user-friendly app, allowing users to create and share videos quickly and easily. Additionally, it provides a platform for expressing creativity, connecting with others, and having fun. Users can follow other users, like and comment on videos, and create duets and challenges with others who share their interests. However, while TikTok has helped launch many young influencers' careers and raised awareness about social issues, it has also drawn criticisms for its addictive nature and potential use in cyberbullying. Some countries, including India, have even banned the app due to national security concerns.

In recent times, TikTok Limited has raised domain name disputes over several domain names, including tiktok18.club, tiktok18apk.org, tiktok18apk.net, tiktok18apk.com, transfertiktok.com & tiktokincrivel.site, to protect its brand. These domain names hold no commercial value, but TikTok is likely to pursue anyone using the TikTok trademark worldwide.
