Title: PorkBun.com issue
Post by: mariajones on Nov 15, 2022, 01:34 AM
Hello everyone on the forum! I'm hoping to get some advice regarding an issue I'm having with PorkBun. Previously, I had no problems accessing PorkBun using a VPN hosted on Linode. However, it seems that PorkBun has recently begun blocking Linode host IP addresses, potentially to reduce bot traffic from hosting providers. As a result, I can no longer access PorkBun using my designated white IP address and attempting to log in with a different IP address is unsuccessful.

I've reached out to customer support but am unsure if I'll receive a response. Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this problem?

Have you considered why you might not receive a response to your letter? Perhaps it would be worth trying to send the message without a VPN or using a different email address to explain the situation. Additionally, while emailing may be the easiest option, you could also try giving them a call.

On a related note, thank you for bringing up the topic of using a static IP address via VPN. Your experience highlights the potential drawbacks of using this method and I look forward to learning more about it.

It's worth noting that PorkBun is listed as an ICANN accredited registrar, which suggests that the company should be able to assist you with any issues. However, this accreditation doesn't necessarily guarantee a high level of customer support or quick problem resolution.

Ultimately, if something major were to happen with PorkBun (such as the company closing or going bankrupt), retaining ownership of your domain would likely depend on whether it's registered to a real person.
