Title: GoDaddy.com sales
Post by: xerbotdev on Jan 31, 2023, 12:16 AM
I received an email from GoDaddy attempting to sell me premium domain names that have already been registered. I wonder if this is a typical sales strategy for all the domains listed or if it's a paid feature they offer.

It's not uncommon for companies to use targeted email marketing to promote their products and services, and GoDaddy is no exception. However, the idea of selling already-registered domain names may raise some questions about the ethics and legality of such practices.

You may want to consider checking your account alerts, but I'm not entirely certain. Premium domains can cost upwards of $2,895, so perhaps that's what this campaign is offering. If they are offering premium domains, I will inquire about them.

GoDaddy has been known to run campaigns promoting the sale of premium domains through targeted email marketing. However, there have been debates over the ethics of these tactics, particularly when it comes to reselling already-registered domain names.

In fact, a similar outbound email sales tactic was used by Afternic, a domain marketplace acquired by GoDaddy in 2013. This tactic involved reaching out to potential buyers of specific domain names and offering them for sale at a higher price. While some view this as a legitimate business strategy, others believe it takes advantage of unsuspecting buyers and devalues the purpose of domain names.
