Title: Is there any markets for dedicated gaming webservers?
Post by: superjohn on Mar 13, 2023, 03:04 AM
I'm fairly new to this business sector, but I do sell similar products to other companies. However, here's the question:
Are there any demands for large-scale maps like Minecraft, Terraria, and others? And if so, what equipment should we consider?
Furthermore, if we were to use high-performance server hardware (such as Intel Xeon processors, SSD for the operating system, and hard drives for other purposes) along with a strong internet connection, would 1 GB of capacity be a significant factor?
Thank you for your guidance; we need prompt responses as we've already begun developing non-standard game servers.

P.S. We're currently working on a website that will ensure simultaneous availability on the server and Business ID.

Many reputable game server providers for businesses are already utilizing Xeon processors and solid-state drives, so I wouldn't even consider other options unless I fully understand how game servers operate. This includes being knowledgeable about the functionality of frequently used mods and scripts. Given that vanilla game servers are no longer common, and most people rely on mods, it is crucial to possess the expertise required to properly maintain them; otherwise, you will encounter numerous issues that can become overwhelming in a short period of time.

In the gaming industry, there is indeed a demand for large-scale maps like those found in Minecraft, Terraria, and other similar games. To cater to this demand, you would need to consider certain equipment and infrastructure.

Firstly, when it comes to server hardware, using high-performance components like Intel Xeon processors and SSDs for the operating system can greatly enhance the performance of your game servers. This will ensure smooth gameplay and efficient resource utilization. Additionally, using hard drives for other purposes, such as storing game data and player information, is a good practice.

A strong internet connection is crucial for hosting game servers, especially for multiplayer experiences. It helps minimize latency and provides a better gaming experience for your players. So investing in a reliable and high-speed internet connection is recommended.

Now, regarding the capacity of 1 GB, it may not be sufficient for hosting large-scale maps and handling multiple players concurrently. The size of game worlds and the number of players connecting to your servers can vary significantly. To determine the appropriate capacity, you should consider factors like the size of the maps, the number of concurrent players you expect to support, and any additional resources that might be required.

To ensure simultaneous availability on the server and Business ID, you mentioned developing a website. It would be beneficial to create a robust and user-friendly website that allows players to easily access your game servers and manage their accounts or subscriptions. By integrating a secure login system with unique identifiers like Business IDs, you can provide a seamless experience for your users.
