After inquiring with numerous friends, I received a mixed response. On one hand, some individuals believe it is feasible to use new domain names such as live, academy, shop and others. They argue that SEO and accessibility considerations are no different from established domains like org or com. The only issue being a lack of habituation in relation to prior norms.

On the other hand, there are those who express reluctance due to concerns over potential spam blockage and search engine invisibility. This begs the question - can new domain names truly be considered on par with the established ones?

The absence of any issues is expected as spam systems operate on a principle of blocking from an explicitly stated list, rather than a firewall approach (prohibit everything but the allowed). Thus, until "live" is added to the list, there should be no blockages.

Search engines will be able to find the domain through any link that leads to the resource and proceed to index it accordingly. In fact, I have observed several domains in the style zone that are thriving and being indexed appropriately. These zones have even seen the creation of entire stores.

The cost of domains in generic zones tends to fluctuate with the rise and fall of the dollar and the decisions of the domain zone coordinator. Thus, my suggestion is to contemplate purchasing them only under the following circumstances:

- when the .com domain is unavailable for a desirable address that aligns with your project's needs;
- when the semantic core of your project includes the name of the zone.

It is important to carefully consider your options and weigh the potential benefits against the cost before making any domain purchasing decisions. Additionally, doing ample research on the current market trends and popular keywords can also help inform your choices.

It's essential to acknowledge that the introduction of new domain names such as .live, .academy, and .shop has indeed expanded the possibilities for individuals and organizations to establish a unique online presence. These new domain names offer a more specific and descriptive way to convey the purpose or nature of a website, which can be particularly beneficial for branding and marketing purposes.

However, the concerns raised by those who are reluctant to adopt these new domain names are not entirely unfounded. One of the primary issues is the potential for spam blockage and search engine invisibility. Historically, new domain names have been more susceptible to being flagged as spam or being overlooked by search engines, which can significantly impact a website's visibility and credibility.

Nonetheless, it's crucial to note that the major search engines, such as Google, have made significant strides in recent years to improve their algorithms and indexing processes. This has led to a more level playing field for new domain names, allowing them to be treated similarly to established domains like .org and .com.

In terms of SEO considerations, the key takeaway is that the quality and relevance of the content, as well as the overall user experience, play a far more significant role in determining a website's search engine ranking than the domain name itself. As long as the website is well-designed, mobile-friendly, and provides valuable content, the choice of domain name should not be a major concern.

Another important aspect to consider is the issue of habituation. As you mentioned, there is a lack of habituation in relation to prior norms, which can lead to a degree of uncertainty and skepticism among users. However, as more and more websites adopt these new domain names, it's likely that users will become increasingly accustomed to seeing them.
While there are valid concerns surrounding the adoption of new domain names, the benefits they offer in terms of branding and marketing, combined with the improvements in search engine algorithms, make them a viable option for individuals and organizations looking to establish a unique online presence. As a webmaster, I would recommend considering these new domain names as a legitimate choice, but also being mindful of the potential challenges and taking steps to mitigate them.
In my experiance, the most important thing is to choose a domain name that accurately reflects the purpose and nature of the website, and to ensure that the website itself is well-designed and provides a positive user experience. With the right approach, new domain names can be a valuable asset in establishing a strong online presence.
