Version 7 of elementary OS has been released, featuring improvements across the operating system.

The new version, codenamed Horus, is based on Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS and runs Linux kernel 5.15. It uses the Pantheon desktop environment developed by the elementary OS team, which looks similar to macOS. One major change is the option to use double-clicking while navigating through Files, making it easier for users transitioning from Windows.
The AppCenter application has also received many improvements, including better responsiveness and design for single application pages. It now supports automatic updates for Flatpak applications and can install operating system updates offline for better stability during the update process.
Office and multimedia applications, such as Mail and Music, have also been improved. The System Settings application allows users to manage power profiles and includes a performance mode on supported systems. Other changes include redesigned printer settings and a new Icon Browser application in AppCenter. Various performance improvements have also been made. Overall, elementary OS 7 "Horus" brings significant upgrades for a better user experience.
Regrettably, the latest release is excessively raw and plagued with numerous bugs. Certain issues might have been overlooked, but when I discovered that language switching was broken and pre-installed applications could no longer be deleted, my frustration mounted and I ended up demolishing and reinstalling Manjaro KDE.
While some minor changes have been made, such as to the status bar, the icons remain largely the same. Overall, the system's design falls short and a new design with smoother corners may only be revealed with version 22.10. Not very impressive.
Upon entering the command "remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/fl", neither AppCenter offered anything nor was a new repository added.
