With the help of OneWeb's LEO technology, Orange Business can improve its backhauling capabilities in hard-to-reach regions, especially in Africa. LEO technology, which operates in the Earth's lower atmosphere at altitudes of 1,200 km or less, differs from traditional geostationary satellites by orbiting much closer to the Earth's surface. This results in lower latency and improved communication speeds, making LEO technology highly sought after for providing high-speed internet connectivity in underserved and remote areas.

According to OneWeb's website, the British company has reached an agreement with SpaceX, an American aerospace company, to launch satellites into orbit. The contract allows for the resumption of satellite launches and the first launch together is expected in 2022.
At present, OneWeb has 428 satellites, which accounts for two-thirds of the planned number. These satellites provide coverage for remote areas above 50 degrees north latitude.
In March, there were concerns over the possible military use of OneWeb satellites, leading to the suspension of launches from the Baikonur cosmodrome. However, the cancellation of these launches would not have a significant economic impact on Roscosmos, the Russian state corporation responsible for space activities.
