Title: CSF & Imunify360
Post by: Valerya on Jun 18, 2022, 02:00 AM
Could CSF and Imunify360 run simultaneously without causing any major problems?
This is a short question that I failed to find on the forum. It's worth noting that scheduled scans won't happen at the same time. Thank you.

Certainly, it is possible to run both CSF and Imunify360 simultaneously. In fact, doing so is highly recommended.
The Web Application Firewall (WAF), also known as webshield, that Imunify360 offers is worth the cost of the software.

If you have invested in the complete Imunify360 suite, it may be more practical to use it as a standalone security solution.
This would eliminate the need to combine it with other software such as CSF. Alternatively, you could choose to use ImunifyAV+ in conjunction with CSF rather than using the full Imunify360 suite.

The primary setting that determines the compatibility of Imunify360 with CSF is the third-party assimilation switch, also known as the CSF_INTEGRATION.catch_lfd_events configuration file. By default, this mode is disabled, which means that CSF and Imunify360 function as two independent security solutions with no redundant modules enabled for Imunify360.

However, when the third-party assimilation mode is enabled, Imunify360 utilizes the Login Failure Daemon (LFD) as the source of security events instead of OSSEC. To receive events from LFD, Imunify360 automatically replaces the BLOCK_REPORT variable with its own script file path. Whenever an IP address is banned by LFD, Imunify360 adds it to its Graylist and removes it from CSF's deny or tempdeny lists, all at once. As a result, the IP address is not immediately added to CSF's deny/tempdeny lists.
