Title: Create subdomain in Fastpanel?
Post by: searchcandy on Oct 09, 2022, 12:53 AM
Hey there.

Could you guide me on how to generate a subdomain on Fastpanel? I couldn't find any helpful information online and the process is not intuitive on the panel.

Also, I would like to have my own PHP settings for the subdomain.

Thanks in advance!

To create a subdomain on Fastpanel, simply add it as a new website and enter the desired subdomain.

It's important to note that there is no concept of a subdomain for services, as all domain names are considered separate. However, obtaining certificates for Wild subdomains can often be complex and require synchronization between the panel and DNS server.

This can also apply to adding mirrors, which may result in difficulty obtaining certificates.

In summary, while there were once no issues with creating subdomains, obtaining certificates has complicated the process. It is now recommended to start a separate website instead to avoid complications and streamline the process.

Upon starting work with Fastpanel, I encountered several issues:

Firstly, DNS setup for external name servers only accommodates a single server, which can be problematic when working with multiple external servers.

Secondly, when installing WordPress with a CMS, it is installed before the Install and does not complete properly, resulting in a local glitch.

Thirdly, adding a website with two options - one with CMS and one with a more detailed version - lacks the ability to install a CMS for option two. This means that selecting both options leads to an empty website, rather than a pre-installed CMS.

Additionally, the lack of Litespeed web server support is disappointing as it would be very useful.

The temporary link to the site is great, however it is useless when preparing the site for transfer.

Importing sites from ISP Manager is not possible at this time, which is quite important.

Finally, editing and adding IP addresses has no panel available and can only be done through SSH.

In my experience configuring the server over two days, I have contacted support for help, but have received inconsistent answers. It is unclear whether my feedback will be taken into account for future panel developments, but I have faith in its continued improvement.

To generate a subdomain on Fastpanel, you typically need to follow these steps:

1. Log in to your Fastpanel account.
2. Navigate to the Domains section or Domain Management.
3. Look for an option to add a subdomain or create a new domain.
4. Enter the desired subdomain name.
5. Select the parent domain for the subdomain.
6. Save your changes.

Once the subdomain is created, you can set custom PHP settings for it. Here's a general approach:

1. Find the PHP settings option within the Fastpanel interface or under the specific subdomain management section.
2. Look for an option to customize PHP settings or  PHP configuration.
3. Modify the desired PHP settings according to your requirements.
4. Save your changes.

Fastpanel is a web hosting control panel that offers various features and functionalities for managing your hosting environment. When it comes to subdomains, Fastpanel allows you to easily create and manage subdomains for your website.

A subdomain is a subsection of your main domain that can be used to create separate sections or categories within your website. For example, if your main domain is "example.com," you can create subdomains like "blog.example.com" or "shop.example.com" to organize your content or services.

In Fastpanel, you can create subdomains by following these steps:

1. Log in to your Fastpanel account.
2. Navigate to the Domains section.
3. Select your main domain from the list of domains.
4. Look for the Subdomains option and click on it.
5. Click on the "Create Subdomain" button.
6. Enter the desired subdomain name (e.g., "blog") in the appropriate field.
7. Choose the dоcument root for the subdomain, which is the directory where the subdomain's files will be stored.
8. Click on the "Create" button to finalize the subdomain creation.

Once the subdomain is created, you can upload files or install applications specific to that subdomain, separate from your main domain.

Fastpanel also provides options to manage DNS records, configure SSL certificates, and set up email accounts for your subdomains. These features allow you to have complete control over your subdomains and tailor them to your specific needs.

Having the ability to create and manage multiple subdomains can be helpful for organizing your website's content, creating separate sections or services, and improving overall website structure and user experience.

Start by logging into your Fastpanel account and navigating to the "Domains" section. Here, you should see an option to add a subdomain. Enter your desired subdomain name and select the primary domain from the dropdown. Ensure that you configure the dоcument root correctly to point to the right directory for your subdomain. Once that's done, you can manage PHP settings by accessing the "PHP Settings" section in Fastpanel.

Here, you can create specific configurations for your subdomain, such as memory limits and upload sizes. It's essential to double-check these settings to ensure they meet your application's requirements.
