An analysis indicates that Domain registrants left Epik in large numbers after its CEO, Rob Monster resigned and accusations of financial mismanagement emerged.

Epik experienced a plummet in its total gTLD domains under management, with customers transferring over 70,000 domains to other registrars by the end of the year. In fact, Epik's domain peaked around 808,000 at the end of August but started falling significantly in mid-September when customers complained about difficulty extracting funds from their accounts, dropping to 733,000 by the end of the year.
Even though most losses were in .com, .net, .org, and .xyz also faced significant drawbacks.

Epik's current financial situation, with difficulties in paying customers who are owed tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars, is further worsened by a lawsuit filed by customers, a regulatory probe over unlicensed escrow services by the attorney general, and the closure of its insurance service.

Epik's Twitter account has been blaming Monster for their problems while expressing a willingness to connect with him and explore alternative options. It recently tweeted reassurances to its customers regarding their compensation and threatened legal action against Monster.
