Hello! I'd like to purchase a domain under the .cash or .net zone. Would I need to provide proof of identity?

Also, is it feasible to input false information? What are the potential risks involved and how frequently do they require confirmation of identity dоcuments?

I'm not doing anything illegal, just working on a risky blockchain project and would prefer to keep it low-key for now.

Lastly, could you recommend a registrar that accepts cryptocurrency and offers favorable pricing?

Providing accurate information is crucial when registering a domain. Failure to do so violates the rules, which may result in the domain being blocked and rendered unusable.

It's important to note that registering with incorrect data poses significant risks, as there have been instances of site owners losing their domains due to this. Unfortunately, once this happens, there's little that can be done to rectify the situation.

As for the frequency of identity verification, it can vary and is not standardized. You may be required to provide identification at various points, depending on different factors.

Finally, while identification dоcuments aren't required during registration, they may be necessary if requested.

When buying a domain, you do not need to present official dоcuments, but I do not recommend creating fake accounts, because in order to spread your influence on the Internet, you will need to present your face. And it's harder to promote a brand from a fake.

However, if we are talking about running a business, especially related to coins (blockchain, etc.), then you will need to buy a certificate, which means that you will need to provide a dоcument.

There are many registrars that accept crypto, I will name those with whom I worked:
netcetera.co.uk - accept cards and crypts (at least bitcoin). The firm is physically located in the UK.
njalla.com is a Swedish company. Accepts a large number of coins.
EasyDNS.com - you can purchase both hosting and a domain. I know for sure that they accept LiteCoin.
iDotz.net is a registrar giant that works with most coins. You can buy everything that is somehow connected with hosting.

In most domain name zones, providing dоcuments is not required for registration. However, it's essential to provide accurate and complete information when filling out the registration form, which can be dоcumented. The registrant (owner) listed on the form must be an individual or legal entity, as indicated in the relevant public and business contracts and payment dоcuments.

The legal nature of domain ownership under international legislation remains uncertain, and opinions from experts in internet law vary. Some assert that domains are considered property with absolute rights, while others argue that the registrar agreement makes domain rights relative and limits the owner's rights.

While this division in opinion may lead to contradictory judicial practice, it also drives the search for an optimal legal position.

I had an unpleasant situation with the iDotz registrar.

For a long time I had a domain that I kept with this registrar.
I rarely went there, only to renew the domain. Therefore, I always used the password recovery function.
But the fact is that the recovery mail was not very used by me, so I periodically deleted it and then created it again. Domain mail.

And now, once again I try to restore access, but the new password does not come.
I tried to resolve the issue with them by phone, they say we don't know anything, the password is sent to the mail.

After three weeks of negotiations, it turned out that they have a mail filter, and if the mail does not respond several times (I remind you that mine was periodically deleted, respectively, the server replied to their mailing list that there was no such mail), then it (the mail) is blacklisted list.

Those. they blacklisted my mail, and therefore did not send data to restore access.
I figured out all this myself, otherwise I would have lost the domain.

Therefore, I do not recommend anyone to keep domains with iDotz. A muddy office, you may well lose your domains there.

When it comes to purchasing a domain under the .cash or .net zone, the requirements for providing proof of identity may vary depending on the registrar you choose. Some registrars might request proof of identity, while others may not. It's always a good idea to check with the specific registrar you plan to use to understand their requirements.

As for inputting false information, it is generally not recommended to provide false or inaccurate information during the domain registration process. Doing so may violate the terms and conditions set by the registrar, which could result in the loss of your domain. In some cases, false information may also raise legal concerns.

The frequency at which registrars verify identity dоcuments can differ. Some registrars may require verification during the initial registration process, while others may only ask for verification if there are specific issues or disputes related to the domain.

When it comes to finding a registrar that accepts cryptocurrency and offers favorable pricing, it's best to research different options and compare their features, pricing, and payment methods. Namecheap and Epik are two examples of registrars that accept cryptocurrency, but there may be others available that suit your needs.

Here are a few more registrars that accept cryptocurrency and offer competitive pricing:

1. Unstoppable Domains: Unstoppable Domains specializes in blockchain-based domains and accepts cryptocurrency as payment. They aim to provide censorship-resistant domains that cannot be taken down by any centralized authority.

2. Hostinger: Hostinger is a popular web hosting provider that also offers domain registration services. They accept cryptocurrency payments and often have promotional offers and discounts available.

3. Gandi.net: Gandi.net is a reputable registrar that accepts cryptocurrency payments. They offer a wide range of domain extensions and have a user-friendly interface.

4. Dynadot: Dynadot is another well-known registrar that accepts cryptocurrency. They offer competitive pricing, a variety of domain extensions, and additional features like domain privacy.
