Micron Technology has announced the production of its Micron 9400 NVMe SSD for servers that require top-notch storage performance.

This drive has a storage capacity of 30.72 TB, is readily available from channel partners and OEM clients globally, and is built to handle the most demanding data center workloads, including machine learning (ML), high-performance computing (HPC), and artificial intelligence (AI) training. Micron claims that their Micron 9400 NVMe SSD is the fastest PCIe Gen4 data center U.3 drive shipping worldwide, and has consistently low latency at all capacity tiers.

The Micron 9400 NVMe SSD is Alvaro Toledo, Vice President and General Manager of Data Center Storage at Micron, said to pack larger datasets into each server and accelerate machine learning training. Additionally, the interaction between workload performance and energy consumption is improved with greater IOPS per watt, resulting in lower operational costs, carbon emissions and environmental impact.

Furthermore, this drive has larger datasets and faster epoch time, allowing for more effective use of graphics processing units (GPUs), and offers various storage capacities ranging between 6.4 TB and 30.72 TB sizes, thereby providing data center managers the freedom to maximize their investment in AI/ML and supercomputing systems.
