Webhosting constantly cuts resources

I have already switched to my third hosting provider, which reduces the resources available and forces me to upgrade to a more expensive plan. Additionally, I have noticed that my website's performance is being affected by my hosting neighbors.
It seems unfair that hosting providers allocate resources in this manner. How should I handle this situation?

Can you explain what you mean by "cutting resources"? Are you referring to shared web hosting? Is anyone still using it for anything other than a basic homepage?

If we are discussing VPS, any alterations in server performance should be taken seriously and addressed accordingly.

Firstly, it's important to check that your website or application is optimized and not overloading resources. Secondly, if the issue is with hosting, it's recommended to switch to a reliable option rather than just a budget one.

For example, I have a heavily loaded WordPress + Woocommerce site and it runs smoothly on Fozzy.com, which I've been using for two years now. Despite being a regular shared hosting service, it can handle significant loads, thanks to the built-in antivirus software and CMS vulnerability fixes. Using Litespeed as its web server also helps in improving performance compared to other options like Apache.

If you notice that your web resource is slowing down, don't immediately assume that it's a hosting issue. The cause could be any of the following:

- Heavy content
- Unoptimized database usage
- Too many server requests
- Incorrect CMS settings and heavy plugins
- Problems with page rendering

We have written about these problems and their solutions in our article "How to increase the speed of a web resource."

It's important to optimize your website as much as possible before blaming the hosting. If the speed is still low after optimization, then there might be an issue with hosting. There are 4 common problems that may affect hosting:

1. Insufficient computing power due to high traffic
2. Incorrect server configuration
3. Incorrectly selected location
4. Unreliable hosting provider

If your hosting provider is unreliable, it could be due to outdated equipment, poor connectivity, or not providing the promised amount of computing power. It's important to research and choose a reputable provider with modern equipment and high-level data centers for reliability.

To handle this situation, there are a few steps you can take:

1. Evaluate your current hosting plan: Assess whether your current plan is suitable for your website's requirements. If it is inadequate, consider upgrading to a plan that provides sufficient resources.

2. Research alternative hosting providers: Look for hosting providers that offer better resource allocation and reliable performance. Read reviews, compare plans, and check their customer support options to make an informed decision.

3. Reach out to customer support: Contact your current hosting provider's customer support and explain the issues you're facing. Request assistance in improving resource allocation or ask if there are any alternative plans available that can better meet your needs.

4. Optimize your website: Implement performance optimization techniques to reduce the impact of resource limitations. This includes optimizing code, minimizing file sizes, and leveraging caching mechanisms.

5. Consider a dedicated hosting solution: If you have significant resource requirements or want to avoid being affected by neighboring websites, consider a dedicated hosting solution. This ensures exclusive resources for your website.

6. Monitor your website's performance: Continuously monitor your website's performance using tools like Google PageSpeed Insights or Pingdom. This will help you identify any bottlenecks or issues that need to be addressed.

7. Utilize a Content Delivery Network (CDN): A CDN can help improve website performance by caching and delivering content from servers located closer to your visitors. This reduces the reliance on your hosting provider's resources and can enhance the speed and reliability of your website.

8. Regularly backup your website: Ensure that you have regular backups of your website's data, including databases and files. This will help you quickly restore your website if any issues or downtime occur due to your hosting provider.

9. Consider a Virtual Private Server (VPS) or Cloud Hosting: VPS hosting or cloud hosting can provide more dedicated resources and better performance compared to shared hosting. While they may be slightly more expensive, they offer greater control and scalability.

10. Check the hosting provider's fair usage policy: Some hosting providers have fair usage policies in place to ensure that no single website consumes an unfair amount of resources. Review these policies to understand the limitations and clarify whether your website is genuinely exceeding them.

11. Explore user reviews and forums: Look for user reviews or forums related to your current hosting provider to see if others have experienced similar issues. It can provide you with insights into how the provider handles resource allocation and customer concerns.

12. Consider contacting hosting provider review websites: If you feel that your hosting provider's practices are unfair or deceptive, consider reaching out to hosting provider review websites or consumer protection agencies to report your experience and seek advice.
