Webhosting with large disk space

Currently, the website development process is underway and the database size has exceeded 100 GB. However, there seems to be a problem with selecting an appropriate web hosting provider. Virtual hosting option is not suitable due to its limited disk space capacity. On the other hand, the dedicated server option can fulfill the disk space requirement but it comes at a higher cost as the complete site takes up to 120 GB, which is already close to the limit of virtual hosting offerings. Although physical servers offer bigger disks, they are not feasible for the project financially because it is just a hobby and does not generate any income.

Therefore, the priority lies in finding an affordable hosting solution that can provide sufficient disk space without burning a hole in the pocket.

Do you have any suggestions or alternatives to consider?

The main issue here is that space is not the only problem to consider when choosing a hosting provider. A smart and professional host calculates the server's space capacity based on several factors, such as how much space each client can consume without affecting other clients' performance and how many clients can be accommodated on the server at once.

This rule cannot be ignored or bypassed. Although some web hosts claim to provide unlimited space, eventually, either the disk subsystem or the entire server will fail due to excessive usage.

Therefore, an alternative option could be to opt for a separate web server.

When choosing a hosting provider, some website owners prefer to opt for unlimited disk space plans, despite the disadvantage of slower page loading speeds. However, most websites do not require unlimited hosting.

Certain types of internet projects may benefit from hosting with large disk space, such as online community platforms, video-heavy sites, and large trading platforms with extensive catalogs, forums, and reviews. In general, the more information a website has, the more space it requires.

However, corporate websites, personal blogs, and small business websites typically do not require hosting with extensive disk space.

If you are looking for a web hosting provider, it is important to consider your specific requirements and choose a plan that best suits your needs.

One alternative to traditional virtual hosting and dedicated servers is cloud hosting. Cloud hosting offers scalable resources, including disk space, allowing you to easily adjust the capacity based on your current needs. With cloud hosting, you pay only for the resources you use, making it a cost-effective solution for projects like yours.

Another option to consider is VPS hosting (Virtual Private Server). VPS hosting provides dedicated resources within a shared environment, offering more flexibility and control compared to traditional shared hosting. It can be a middle ground between virtual hosting and dedicated servers, providing ample disk space at a more affordable price point.

Additionally, exploring managed hosting services could be beneficial. Managed hosting providers offer comprehensive support and maintenance for your server, allowing you to focus on the development of your website without worrying about server management. While this option may come at a slightly higher cost, it can save time and resources in the long run.
Optimizing the database and considering data compression techniques could help reduce the overall disk space usage, potentially allowing you to work within the constraints of a more affordable hosting solution.
