Which Linux distribution would you suggest for server usage? In my opinion, Ubuntu Server is the optimal choice among the numerous options available due to its stability, reliability, and user-friendly setup and management.

Additionally, Ubuntu provides a diverse array of applications and tools that can be tailored to your individual server requirements. What Linux distribution do you believe is ideal for configuring a server?

In my opinion, Ubuntu is not a recommended option due to the fact that ease of use and setup should not be viewed as features when it comes to servers. Most Linux distributions are fundamentally similar in ease of setup anyway. Instead, I would suggest using Alma Linux for your server needs. It is extremely lightweight, speedy, and receives comparable support to Ubuntu.
Furthermore, Alma Linux does not have questionable board or developer teams like Ubuntu/Canonical. Take the example of Zeitgeist - do you really want to work with individuals who include such low-quality features in their software?

Currently, the majority of leading Linux distributions available are highly stable and offer a comprehensive range of features. In my own experience, I have used CentOS for an extended period, including version 6, 7, and 8, and now AlmaLinux.

I have never encountered any major issues aside from those which I have caused myself. Though I have also utilized other distributions such as Debian and Ubuntu, I am able to transition between them without difficulty due to their overall reliability.

If we talk about the most popular distributions that are trusted by users, then among them I want to mention Linux Mint and Elementary OS. For macOS users, Elementary OS is the best distribution because its operating system closely resembles the interface of a MacBook.

CentOS. One of the most effective Linux distributions for the server, CentOS is used by almost 30% of all Linux servers in the world . Inherited from Red Hat Enterprise Linux, guarantees stable server health. The CentOS distribution has great functionality..

I'm all for Ubuntu - to deny the stability and versatility, which with version 16.10 has become many times better, is stupid, but let's look at the rest.
For data centers, I would also consider the RHEL option. RHEL, aka Red Hat Enterprise Linux stands out for its large database scalability - it can withstand high speeds with 500 TB of databases.
Let's not forget about Linux Mint, which, apart from its functionality, is damn attractive and sеxy! In short, the functionality and appearance are somewhat reminiscent of Windows 7 (It's easier for people to switch to it).
I also want to remind you about the Debian distribution. Of course, it is difficult to learn and is intended for advanced users, but if you master it, then you will have a very extensive set of tools in front of you.

The standard configuration for the Apache Linux virtual servers is determined by the file /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, and CloudLinux, and by /etc/apache2/apache2.conf in Debian and Ubuntu. The virtual web server configuration files are located at the base level of the configuration file hierarchy and are included in the Apache or nginx configuration files via the include directive. The configuration files of all virtual servers can be found in the /etc/nginx/nginx.conf file using a similar approach.

Two files determine the standard configuration of each virtual server: last_httpd.conf for Apache and last_nginx.conf for nginx. These files are stored automatically in the /var/www/vhosts/system/<domain name>/conf/ directory based on preset configuration templates. You can modify the standard configuration by editing these templates. For detailed instructions, see the Changing Virtual Hosts Settings Using Configuration Templates section in the Administrator's Guide.

However, some site owners may need additional server features that are not available in the standard configuration. In such cases, Plesk allows overriding the standard configuration for individual clients. This can be done at the level of the tariff plan, where the configuration settings specified for an individual tariff plan will replace the standard configuration. Alternatively, it can be performed at the virtual server (website) level, where the Apache and nginx directives set for a specific site are stored in vhost.conf, vhost_ssl.conf, and vhost_nginx.conf files within the /var/www/vhosts/system/<domain name>/conf/ directory.

To configure the web server settings for a particular site, you can either use the client panel interface or manually edit the configuration files. Note that only Linux root users can manually create and modify Apache and nginx configuration files. For further information, review the Extended Administrator's Guide, Virtual Host Configuration Files section.

Ubuntu's long-term support (LTS) releases provide a stable foundation for server deployments, with security updates and patches guaranteed for five years. This is crucial for maintaining a secure and reliable server environment.

One of the standout features of Ubuntu Server is its extensive package repository, offering a wide range of applications and tools that can be easily installed to customize the server to meet specific requirements. Whether it's setting up a web server with Apache or Nginx, deploying a database server with MySQL or PostgreSQL, or establishing an application server with Node.js or Docker, Ubuntu provides the necessary packages and support for various technologies, making it versatile for different server configurations.

The strong community support and abundant dоcumentation available for Ubuntu Server are invaluable resources for both novice and experienced server administrators. Community forums, tutorials, and official dоcumentation make it easy to troubleshoot issues, implement best practices, and stay informed about the latest developments in server management.
Moreover, Ubuntu Server's user-friendly setup and management tools, including the option for a minimal installation or a full-featured desktop experience if needed, make it a flexible choice for diverse server usage scenarios.
