América Móvil and Telxius have collaborated to establish a high-capacity subsea cable connection between Guatemala and the United States, known as AMX3 by America Movil and Tikal by Telxius. This project is part of the companies' continuous efforts to transform global communications. Telefónica controls Telxius.

The ultrahigh capacity subsea cable will link Puerto Barrios (Guatemala) with Boca Raton (U.S.), and possibly Cancun (Mexico), reaching an estimated capacity of 190 Tbps. The cable provides superior quality service, security, and dependability, serving as a crucial route in the Caribbean. ASN already has an existing supply contract that can increase its capacity and incorporate additional branching units to serve other destinations.

América Móvil aims to expand their subsea networks in the Americas even further through this project, which gives them over 197 thousand km of submarine cables. Their AMX-1 submarine cable spans 18,300 km and connects the U.S. to Central and South America, with 13 landing points. The South Pacific Submarine Cable stretches 7,300 km along the Latin American Pacific coast, linking Guatemala, Peru, Ecuador, and Chile with five landing points to enable international connectivity to all of their subsidiaries in these regions.

Telxius has established seven new subsea cables since 2018, including Brusa, Tannat, Mistral, Marea, Junior, Dunant, and Tikal, fully developing their network's capabilities to deliver multiterabit support for the Americas and Europe while boosting their traditional routes. Telxius now offers an 82,000 km network that links critical digital data hubs on both sides of the Atlantic.

This subsea cable collaboration has strengthened the telecommunication landscape of Latin America, the Caribbean, and beyond.
