Title: Where can I find clients that are not on freelance platforms?
Post by: jacoblin on Apr 11, 2023, 07:49 AM
Greetings, fellow professionals! After working on freelance platforms for a few years (including front-end development and creating complete websites), I've discovered that it is extremely convenient and useful, but there are some drawbacks.
Firstly, due to the low rates set by other freelancers, setting a fair price for a high-quality product can prove challenging. One may have to limit themselves to the local market of that particular platform and not evaluate tasks objectively, but rather in terms of what's unique about their offers compared to others.

Secondly, intermediaries often make the process more difficult, as they tend to offer unclear or even illogical requests that cannot be explained or justified. Thirdly, tight deadlines can be overwhelming when trying to profit from cheap projects, all while searching tirelessly for the next one, which results in a draining cycle that requires much energy.

My request is this - please don't dwell solely on improving productivity within the freelance exchange.
Instead, could anyone suggest alternative methods to find clients online that don't rely on overused solutions like word of mouth or lengthy website promotions? Ideally, we need something that can yield results quickly or in the near future.

To persuade potential customers, you need to focus on five key points.

First, showcasing your portfolio is crucial. Second, be transparent about pricing, timeframe and the approach you'll take. Third, provide guarantees regarding completion and performance, along with a plan of action in case of any issues.

Fourth, emphasize what sets you apart from the competition. Lastly, offer references that can attest to your abilities. My recommendation would be to prepare a concise presentation, create a unique personal website, establish a Telegram group for communication, and share sample code on Github.

By doing so, you can achieve an effective synergy between the chat group and website, resulting in increased quality and customer satisfaction.

One effective strategy would be to establish a Linkedin profile with detailed information about your skills and job responsibilities.
It's important to be thorough and accurate when filling out your profile. Another tip is to add thousands of recruiters as connections, which can lead to job recommendations.

However, it's crucial to avoid adding too many recruiters at once to prevent being blocked. Additionally, use your legal name on your profile to avoid issues.
You could also send your resume to recruteam.pro, as they frequently offer project work that may not require fluency in English.

On freelance sites, there is tough competition among new programmers. As a result, everyone is looking for work experience and a portfolio, which is usually applicable for simpler tasks.

However, if you have significant programming experience, it is better to attempt more challenging assignments, which may appear unclear initially. Developing a profile on LinkedIn is an excellent way to find work, as many companies seek out candidates for office positions and projects. For the best results, make sure to update your account with relevant information, such as experience, colleagues, and HR contacts.
Finally, foreign freelance sites may offer excellent prices for your services.

One of the most effective ways to differentiate yourself and command higher rates is to position yourself as a subject matter expert in your field. This can be achieved through a multi-pronged content marketing strategy:

1. Establish a Strong Personal Brand:
  - Develop a professional website that showcases your portfolio, services, and unique value proposition.
  - Craft a compelling personal brand narrative that highlights your expertise, problem-solving abilities, and the tangible results you've delivered for clients.
  - Leverage social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Medium to consistently share insightful content, engage with your target audience, and build your online presence as a thought leader.

2. Create Valuable Content:
  - Produce well-researched, informative blog posts, guides, and tutorials that address the pain points and challenges faced by your ideal clients.
  - Leverage video content, such as webinars or video tutorials, to further demonstrate your expertise and build trust with potential customers.
  - Consider guest posting on industry-leading websites and blogs to expand your reach and credibility.

3. Optimize Your Visibility:
  - Leverage search engine optimization (SEO) best practices to ensure your website and content rank highly in relevant searches.
  - Utilize targeted keyword research to identify the terms and phrases your potential clients are actively searching for.
  - Explore search engine advertising (e.g., Google Ads) to gain immediate visibility and drive qualified leads to your offerings.

4. Leverage Strategic Partnerships:
  - Identify complementary service providers or agencies within your industry and explore opportunities for collaboration, such as joint projects, referral arrangements, or white-label partnerships.
  - These partnerships can provide access to new client networks, shared resources, and the ability to scale your services without the need to constantly search for new projects.

5. Tap into Specialized Platforms:
  - Research and utilize industry-specific job boards, directories, or marketplaces that cater to high-quality service providers like yourself.
  - Examples include Clutch, Upwork's Enterprise offerings, and specialized platforms within your niche (e.g., design-focused directories, developer communities).
  - These platforms can help you reach a more targeted audience of clients who are actively seeking experienced professionals like you.

6. Networking and Referrals:
  - Actively participate in industry events, webinars, and online communities to connect with potential clients and collaborators.
  - Leverage your existing professional network to ask for referrals or introductions to new opportunities.
  - The personal connection and word-of-mouth recommendations can be invaluable in securing high-quality projects.
