Title: How do you guys usually check internal broken links for free?
Post by: inhathanh on Oct 30, 2025, 02:25 AM
Hey SEO folks 👋
When you do internal link audits, what tools do you use to find and fix broken internal links — especially free ones?

I'm looking for practical workflows or combo methods (like using GSC + Screaming Frog + manual checks).

Please share your go-to process — I'm sure others will find it useful too!

You can use free tools like Screaming Frog free version, Ahrefs Webmaster Tools or Google Search Console. These scan your site and list internal broken links so you can fix them easily.

Google Search Console – The Pages → Not found (404) report shows broken internal URLs.

Screaming Frog (Free version) – Crawls up to 500 URLs and clearly lists broken internal links.

Ahrefs Webmaster Tools (Free) – Shows internal broken links after site verification.

Broken Link Checker (online) – Quick scan for small websites.

Manual check – Use browser dev tools or crawl key pages periodically.

Most people check internal broken links for free using online SEO tools and simple browser methods. Google Search Console helps identify crawl errors and broken URLs on your site. Free tools like Screaming Frog (limited crawl), Ahrefs Webmaster Tools, or Broken Link Checker scan pages quickly. You can also manually check links using browser extensions, then fix or redirect broken links to improve user experience and SEO performance.
