Title: Is it worth using free SSL certificate
Post by: croptech on Dec 25, 2022, 03:29 AM
Our clients who have registered a domain with us can take advantage of our offer of a free DomainSSL (not Wildcard) certificate for their domain.

This certificate can be installed at no cost, providing a secure SSL connection for their website.

As to whether it is worth using or not, it really depends on the specific needs of the client. While there may be other certificates available for purchase, the free DomainSSL certificate is a reputable and reliable option.

That said, clients should assess their individual requirements and consider whether they need additional features or more specialized security measures beyond what the free certificate provides. In any case, it's always important to ensure that your website is properly secured and protected against any potential threats.

You are welcome to use it.

After the first year of utilizing it, I took the liberty of adding a free SSL certificate from Let's Encrypt that is available for you to also use.

This will provide a secure connection for your website and ensure any sensitive information transmitted through the site is protected.

I highly recommend using SSL for any website, regardless of whether it handles sensitive data or not. It is an important security measure that not only protects users but can also improve your site's search engine ranking.

SSL certificates can be quickly issued, and beginners in IT often use free certificates to understand SSL before purchasing from a certification center.

While some people may opt for free certificates to save money, it is important to note that these certificates often have lower levels of security and can put your website at risk.

There are pros and cons to using free SSL certificates, such as the fact that they are cost-free and easy to obtain online, but they come with a low level of trust and short validity periods.

Free SSL certificates like Let's Encrypt and Cloudflare may not be supported in all browsers, and lack the necessary support for correct operation if issues arise. As a result, the certificate user has to find answers or instructions on their own should they encounter a problem a problem.

There are additional risks associated with free certificates, such as fake HTTPS sites that use these certificates to gain user trust, and the fact that some certificates cover multiple domains that are not even owned by the user.

Overall, while free certificates can serve as a useful tool for testing purposes, they are not necessarily the best option for serious projects. For this reason, it is worth considering investing in commercial SSL certificates that offer better security and a more reliable level of support.

I view the offer of a free DomainSSL certificate as a significant advantage for my clients who have registered a domain with our company. Incorporating SSL security into a website is crucial for establishing trust and protecting sensitive information transmitted between the user's browser and the website's server. The implementation of SSL is a fundamental aspect of web design, serving to create a secure and reliable online environment.

The free DomainSSL certificate not only provides an added layer of security for client websites but also conveys a strong sense of professionalism and responsibility. From a user experience standpoint, visitors are more likely to engage with a website when they see that it is secure, ultimately leading to increased trust and potential conversions.

When considering the various types of SSL certificates available, the free DomainSSL certificate offers a reputable and reliable solution for most standard website security needs. For many clients, especially those with simple informational websites, blogs, or small business sites, the free certificate is an excellent choice to enhance their online security without incurring additional costs.

However, it's important to approach this offer with the awareness that different websites may have distinct security requirements. While the free certificate is a valuable starting point, clients with e-commerce platforms, membership sites, or other functionalities that involve the transmission of sensitive data may need to explore additional security options.

I emphasize the value of the free DomainSSL certificate not only in terms of security but also its potential positive impact on search engine rankings. Search engines, such as Google, prioritize secure websites, making SSL implementation a critical factor for improving visibility and attracting organic traffic.
I believe that the offer of a free DomainSSL certificate aligns with my commitment to designing secure, user-friendly websites. By utilizing this certificate, my clients can showcase their dedication to protecting their users' data and ensuring a safe online experience. While considering the individual security needs of each website, I see this offer as a valuable opportunity to enhance both the security and overall success of the websites I design.

While it's better than nothing, it's still a basic certificate that may not provide the level of security that my clients require. I've seen too many times, and I've seen it's not a viable solution for my clients. They need more advanced security features, and the free DomainSSL certificate is not providing it. It's a basic certificate that's not providing the level of security that my clients require.
