Hello everyone.
I am wondering if there are any tools available that allow me to view the traffic data for expired or deleted domains, even if they have been unavailable for a significant amount of time?

In my opinion, the majority of registrars, such as GoDaddy and Dynadot, offer data on traffic statistics for expired domains that have gone to auction. However, when it comes to expired domains that are no longer available, I am not aware of any services offering this type of service.

It used to be the case that Verisign provided traffic information for certain domain extensions, but my understanding is that this service has since been discontinued. It seems that ExpiredDomains.net may provide some level of statistical information, although it's worth noting that this is not the same as live data transmission.

The availability of accurate and comprehensive traffic data is crucial for anyone involved in buying or selling domains, as well as those looking to understand the online market landscape. As such, there is a real need for more reliable services that can provide this information, particularly for expired domains that have been offline for an extended period.

Finding traffic data for expired or deleted domains can be a bit of a challenge, especially if they have been unavailable for a long period. There are, however, several tools and techniques that you can use to potentially gather some insights.

One of the most common approach is to use archive.org, also refered to as the Wayback Machine. It allows you to see how a website looked at various points in time. While you may not get direct traffic data, you can see the content and layout to reconstrut some of the traffic potential.

Another option is to check Flippa or other domain marketplaces where sellers often provide information about the traffic of expiring domains. Sellers may show some analytics, although it's not always reliable since if a domain is expired, they don't have active data.

Additionally, there are specialized services like SEMrush or Ahrefs that offer features to analyze the backlinks of a domain. Even if a domain is expired, if it had quality backlinks, those could give you an indication of its former popularity and traffic potential.

You might also consider using a tool like Majestic. They provide metrics such as Citation Flow and Trust Flow which can give you insights about the domain's authority, albeit these metrics don't go as far as providing explicit traffic numbers.
Some domain registration services offer tools that show you past traffic statistics for certain domains, though they may require a fee or subscription. Always make sure when you are buyin a domain, to do your due diligence on its background to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

In short, while it can be difficult to get exact traffic data for expired domains, using a combination of these tools and resources can help you make a more informed decision about a domain's potential value and restore issues.
